Our Sacred Cenote

Cenote, derived from the ancient Mayan language, d’zonot which means a place with underground water. Cenotes are natural deep water wells, which are fed by the filtration of rain and by the currents of underground rivers that are born in the heart of the earth.

Cenotes are part of underwater cave systems, which eventually connect to the sea through the ground, connecting them as well to the barrier reef.

The cave walls are the home of the majestic Toh bird, whose legend, amongst others, we will share with you upon your visit.

These sacred places are where the Ancient Mayans communicated with their Gods and are an oasis providing fresh water in remote areas of the lush jungle.

Tulum has one of longest underground river system on Earth where new discoveries and connections are continually being explored
